Bollywood  veteran actor Raj Kumar rose to stardom soon after he entered 
the industry not because he was a chocolate boy,  but entirely because of his versatile acting skill to portray any kind of characters in a well refined manner.He possessed masculine unique voice and his own style of clear diction with  impeccable way of dialogue delivery.He was distinctive to express the emotions on the face and in his voice so that the emotive situations in a scene would  be fully acknowledged to the audience.He had acted in approximately 70 films in his career and most of them were hits and will always be  remembered.
Raj Kumar was born in Loralai in Baluchistan on 8th October 1926.He came to Mumbai  in the late 40's and served as a Sub Inspector of Police in Mumbai for a short period before entering films.

He appeared in a handful of films such as 'Lakhon Mein Ek,Rangeeli,Aabshar,Ghamand' etc and became an established actor of Bollywood.By acting as the Prince 'Naushazad' in the film 'Naushervan-E-Adil' which was directed by Sohrab Modi he earned  much popularity.
He rose to stardom by acting in the 'Oscar Nominated' Blockbuster film 'Mother India'(1957) as the husband of Nargis.Sunil Dutt,Raj Kumar,Rajendra Kumar etc acted and it  was directed by Mehboob Khan.
His role as a mill worker along with DilipKumar in 'Paigham'(59) was  well noted and   critically acclaimed.It was directed by S.S.Vasan.Vyjayantimala was the heroine.
Dil Ek Mandir was a super hit film of 1963 which was directed by C.V.Sridhar in which he portrayed a cancer patient.Dr.Dharmesh who returns from abroad wanted to marry his girlfriend Sita and he was in very much  despair to find that she got married to somebody else.The doctor who suffered deep grief  devoted his service to a cancer clinic and  soon surprisingly  finds out that one of his cancer patient in the clinic  is Sita's husband.Rajendra Kumar played Doctor's role and the  role of Sita was handled by Meena Kumari.Raj Kumar got Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Dil Ek Mandir.
'Waqt' was another super hit film of 1965 and it was directed by Yash Chopra.Sunil Dutt,Sadhna and Raj Kumar were the main actors and Raj Kumar got Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for this movie also.Family members got  separated  by a natural disaster was the theme of this film.
Priya Rajvansh and Raj Kumar were the main pair of 'Heer Raanjha' directed by Chetan Anand in 1970.It was a musical romantic film and was a big hit.
In the film 'Lal Patthar' he depicted a  villainous hero who ultimately understands that wealth and money can not buy true love.Hema Malini,Rakhee,Vinod Mehra,Chandramohan etc acted in it.
In the film 'Ek Nai Paheli' directed by K.Balachander in 1984, and which was a nice movie  he acted as father of 'Sandeep'(Kamal Hassan).

In the film 'Muqaddar Ka Faisla'(89) he played the role as a honest Hindu priest who is accused of rape and embezzlement.Raj Kumar portrayed the innocent 'Pandit Krishnakant' who was imprisoned for the accused crime.
After a gap of 32 years Raj Kumar rejoins with Dilip Kumar in the film 'Saudagar(1991).Dilip Kumar,Raj Kumar,Manisha Koirala,Jacjkie Shroff,Deepti Naval,Gulshan Grover,Anupam Kher,Amrish Puri etc acted in this Blockbuster hit film directed by Subhash Ghai.
Some other well noted films of Raj Kumar are 'Pakeezah,Hamraaz,Kudrat,Marte Dam Tak,Jung Baaz,Neel Kamal' etc.
 Raj Kumar Passed away on 3rd July 1996 in Mumbai.
