Brij Mohan Vyas, commonly known as B.M.Vyas had amazing skill to  portray mythological,historical and fictional characters  and was also exceptionally good to act  usual supporting and character roles.He worked for more than four decades in Bollywood films and acted in over  300 films.He acted as father to top heroines like Meena kumari, Nutan etc in many films.
B.M.Vyas was born on October 22, 1920 in Churu,Rajasthan.He was well educated and possessed B.A.(Honours) degree in Sanskrit.He could sing well and wished to become a playback singer.His brother Bharat Vyas called him to Mumbai and he reached there with the intention of fulfilling his dream of becoming a playback singer in Bollywood films.
He sang for the film 'Bhartruhari' in 1944 and  also for films like Naula ka Haar,Pehle Aap   etc.He joined Prithviraj Theatres as a singer but because of his mastery of Sanskrit language, he was offered a role as 'Kanva Rishi' in their play 'Shakunthala' which he depicted nicely.He became an established actor of that troupe  and worked there   for eleven years portraying well noted characters in plays like ' Deewar,Gaddaar,Ahuti,Paisa' etc  and he involved in their music department also.
His entry in to films was with the 1948 released film Neecha Nagar in which he played the elder brother of Kamini Kaushal's character.Zohra Segal played his wife's role.
He but got accolades for his role in Raj Kapoor's "Barsat' the next year in

1949.He got accolades for films like'Baiju Bawra,Do Ankhen Barah Haath,Sarawasti,Sampoorna Ramayan,Chandragupt,Alibaba and 40 Thieves,Thief of Baghdad' etc.
He got much appreciation for the portrayal of prisoner in V.Shantaram's 'Do Ankhen Barah Haath' , Chanakya in 'Samrat Chandragupta' etc.
His talents were much counted with the Ravan's role in 'Sampoorna Ramayana(1961) and he was given several  offers to portray such mythological and historical characters later on.
B.M.Vyas quit acting in early 90's after acting films like  'Daulat Ki Jung,Oh Darling Yeh Hai India' etc.
He passed away on March 11, 2013 in Kalyan, Mumbai.
