PRATAPA CHANDRAN

Pratapa Chandran was a famous Malayalam film actor for five decades.He was an established stage actor also before joining films.On many occasions he displayed  a dramatic style   for his film characters also.He was excellent to portray dignified roles like Lawyer,Judge,Minister etc and could play villainous roles also with appropriateness.During his career he could act in more than 400 films and he was the producer of some films too.
Pratapa Chandran was born at Omallur of Pathanamthitta District in 1941.After schooling he went to Kollam and then moved to Madras.He went to Madras to try for roles in films but had to come back after three years during which he got roles in radio plays and some stage  plays.He got role as an old man in the film 'Viyarpinte Vila' in 1962 and small roles in some other films.He returned back to Kollam and acted in Professional Drama troupe 'Kalidasa Kala Kendra'.
He rejoined films by acting in 'Aadi Shankaracharya' and later was successful to get important character roles and villain roles in several films.
His roles in films  'Oru CBI Diary Kurip, Manu Uncle, Kottayam Kunjachan, etc  earned wide appreciation.
He was the producer of films like " Manavadharmam, Prakadanam, Kodathi, Ivide Ingane,  Kattuthee" etc.
Pratapa Chandran died on Dec 16, 2004 at the age of 63.
