N.GOVINDAN KUTTY

N.Govindan Kutty had earned much fame as a character actor as well as a Villain actor in Malayalam cinema.
He was a brilliant playwright who wrote several professional dramas and screenplays for Malayalam films.
He had also wrote several short stories which were  published as 'Collection of Short Stories'..
Govindan Kutty hailed from Fort Kochi and was the son of Parents Sankara Narayanan and Nanukutty Amma.
He had his studies at his native place and passed Intermediate Course.While as a student itself he was interested and involved in literary works and acting in dramas.After completion of intermediate course he joined professional  drama troupes and had worked with famous troupes of that period.For several years he was
working with K.P.A.C. drama troupe which was the no.1 drama troupe of that time.
Since he was able to write dramas also the eminent troupe owners  were haunting him and requesting him to join them.
He was having deep knowledge about 'Vadakkan Pattu' stories and had done a thorough study about them.
It is said that he was having some manuscripts regarding them and from those stories it was he who wrote
'Unniyarcha' as a drama in 1956 and it was presented on stage by 'Jyothi Theatres of Kottayam Chellappan
directed by P.J.Antony.It had earned good applause and later in 1961 that story was accepted by Udaya
Studios for their movie and thus the first ever Vadakkan Pattu film released in 1961 with Ragini in title role.



For the film Unniyarcha  Kunchacko but utilized 'Sarangapani' to write the screenplay.
But later N.Govindan Kutty had written story,Screenplay for 'Ponnapuram Kotta,Padayottam' etc and also scripted for  some other films like
Ernakulam Junction.
Govindan Kutty had a special tone and unique style  while rendering the dialogues and he was a major prey for mimicry artists due to this reason.

Govindan Kutty appeared as a cruel villain in many films and in negative roles as corrupted man like smuggler
etc His rape scene was shown in many films and such  a scene with Vijayasree in the film
'Postmane Kanmanilla' earned much publicity.
He had acted in  around 100 films.
